Political Affiliation and Health Reform

According to a Rasmussen Reports poll:
  • 78 percent of conservatives opposed the reform plan.
  • 73 percent said that they would still oppose it even if the controversial public option was removed
  • By contrast, liberal support for the plan sans public option dropped by a third
  • A majority of unaffiliated voters are opposed to passing health care reform legislation with or without (regard to) the public option.

  1. From Charles Blow, NYTimes:

"according to an analysis of The New York Times/CBS News polls from the past 33 years, Americans seem to trust the government substantially more after a Republican president is elected than they do after a Democratic one is elected — at least at the outset."

I really appreciate and welcome all of the research and sharing of information that you (bloggers) are generating.

Hopefully it will help other(s) ... come up with reasonable and workable recommendations.

my point is that (as a medical society) we ought to focus our critical eye upon the proposals themselves. we should not allow our pre-conceived notions or personal leanings alone to carry the day.

...Like you, I feel that too many of us bring our "own personal learnings" to the table and lose sight of where we are or should be going and focusing on.

Thank you for you input and concern to "get it right" this time.
